We travel to assisted living facilities and adult day centers to offer an alternative activity to all members of the assisted living community. We also administer sessions in our base facility, Rhythm Break Productions, located at 1261 Broadway in suite 309. Our program utilizes ballroom and partner dancing to connect with people living with dementia. However, as a practice, we also incorporate many different elements and types of dance to facilitate the most positive results and offer the best possible treatments for all types of individual circumstances.
Hearthstone is dedicated to creating environments where people living with Alzheimer’s can truly flourish: “Nathan has his own unique style of teaching dance, no words or steps, just take my hand and I’ll lead the way!” – Jodie Berman, Program Director at Hearthstone
For 28 years New York Memory Center has been a pioneer in the movement to bring evidence-based home and community solutions that positively impact both the lives of adults living with memory loss and their caregivers. They are breaking new ground and setting an enlightened standard of care and support.
The only dedicated assisted living facility in New York City specializing in memory care:
“At The 80th Street Residence, an assisted living community that specializes in memory care, Executive Director Clare Shanley says residents have embraced the new program. Every week “more and more residents join in the movement and dancing,” Shanley reports, mentioning the program’s transformative impact. “Following the cha chas, tangos and salsa numbers, we actually had a conga line going the very first week. In fact, the program is so contagious,” she adds, “that we now see more and more families and staff members joining in and dancing along with the residents.” – The Journal On Active Aging, November/December 2010
